רחפני ריסוס נגד סמים: קולומביה החלה להשתמש ברחפנים למניעת גידול לא חוקי של עצי קוקה
השתלבות הרחפנים בענף החקלאות נמצאת רק בתחילת דרכה אך אין ספק שתופסת תאוצה, החל ממיפוי שדות וצמחים לצרכים שונים ועד ריסוס והדברה של השדות, אך היצירתיות כאמור לא נגמרת כאן ואפשר להיווכח ולראות את פעילותה של המדינה הדרום אמריקאית - קולומביה, במטרה לצמצם את הפעילות הבלתי חוקית של בעלי השדות לגידול עצי קוקה, שמהם ניתן להפיק בין היתר את הסם המבוקש בעולם - קוקאין.
כידוע, ענף ייצור הקוקאין במדינות הדרום אמריקאיות בייחוד בוליביה,פרו וקולומביה הוא ענף רחב ומשגשג המפרנס לא מעט אירגוני פשיעה,קרטלים ובנוסף אנשים פשוטים שהם בעלי השדות. רשויות האכיפה במדינות כבר עשרות שנים לא מצליחות להתמודד עם בעיה זו בצורה אפקטיבית. ישנם לא מעט אירגוני פשיעה וקרטלי סמים שתחת ידיהם יש עשרות אם לא מאות אלפי דונמים הגדלים בהם עצי הקוקה.
על פי דיווחים שונים, הרשויות המקומיות בקולומביה החלו להשתמש ברחפנים עמוסים בחומר קוטל עשבים במטרה לחפש ולהשמיד שדות בלתי חוקיים של עצי הקוקה.
לדברי נשיא המדינה איוון דיוק מרקז אשר אישר את הנאמר וטען שהרחפנים שימושיים במטרה לצמצם את פעילותם הלא חוקית של בעלי השדות, אך ידוע לכולם שזהו פיתרון זמני לטווח הקצר. עקב הביקוש הבינלאומי לסם, לא יהיה קל כל כך לעצור את הפעילות הלא חוקית של ייצור הקוקאין, אך זהו צעד נוסף בדרך למטרה הסופית.
