DJI Unveils the Agras T55 and T100: A Leap in Agricultural Spraying Payload

DJI Agriculture launched two new spraying and pest-control drones on July 1, 2026: the Agras T55 and the dual-battery Agras T100, both delivering a major jump in payload capacity for precision agriculture. The advanced T100 comes with a 90-liter spray tank, a spreading capacity of 150 liters, and a lift capacity of up to 80 kilograms, while the smaller T55 offers a 50-liter tank and a millimeter-wave radar sensor.

Is DJI raising the payload bar in the agricultural drone market?

The Chinese company, which has dominated the global agricultural drone market for years, is sticking to a clear trajectory: more volume, more lift capacity, fewer stops for refilling. Both new models are clearly positioned to serve large operators and commercial spraying companies that manage drone fleets across vast areas, rather than a single family farmer working a small plot. The open question is how much medium-sized fields, including those common in Israel, would actually benefit from payloads of this scale, compared with the higher purchase and maintenance costs that come with them.

The gap between the two models is most apparent in tank volume and the strength of their sensing systems, with the T100 built for genuinely industrial-scale operation.

Is the payload race still climbing?

This launch isn't happening in a vacuum. The agricultural drone industry has spent several years in an ongoing race for greater capacity, with each new generation trying to cut down the number of refill landings and shorten the time needed to cover large areas. Competing manufacturers, including other Chinese companies as well as smaller players in Europe and the United States, now have to respond to the new bar DJI has set with the T100. On the regulatory front, an 80-kilogram payload raises non-trivial questions regarding operational licensing in countries where aviation authorities still cap maximum takeoff weight for agricultural drones, and it's unclear whether regulations in every market have already caught up with this pace of advancement.

For large operators, especially in regions with open, contiguous fields such as the vast expanses of the United States or South America, fewer stops for refueling and refilling could translate into significant operational savings. That said, the purchase price of such platforms, along with the maintenance costs of advanced sensor systems like the millimeter-wave radar, has not yet been fully disclosed, making it difficult at this stage to assess the return on investment for operators in Israel and the region.
